More images from my first ever trip to Melbourne (yes yes.. I had never been!!) Todays snaps are from the day my dear friend Kat (above) took me to the glittering city. I really love the vibe in Melb town. So many op shops... vintage shopping is everywhere. Or maybe that is just where Kat took me! Inspiration is everywhere. I was capturing ideas in every shop.. windows.. architecture... people passing. All these little lane-ways filled with eateries and boutiques. I think Kat was getting a little tired of me stopping constantly to snap and note everything that gave me tingles... which was about every 10 steps!

Some little treasures I bought on my trip to Melbourne. My gorgeous dear friend Kat took me to Camberwell Markets and I was in heaven! Here are my favourite on the days finds... Vintage Leather clutch, Smokey Glass Vase (yes this flew home with me, safely snuggled in my suitcase) Gold (plated) and marquette hoops and Pendant. I love when a treasure hunt day takes a theme and here there is a definite 40's flavour to my finds... I can see this inspiring a collection... black waist fitted pieces, lady like silhouettes with with diamonte bows and splashes of jewel coloured silk ribbons.
Inspiration- Romance and Lace
As I am designing my new collection, I like to have a feast of beautiful inspiring images... to stare into. So to get all inspired today I made this one up..... It is also inspired from all the blogs I read that fill their pages with images that move me as a artist and take me somewhere far away... So I want to share some of what I find inspiring.. moving... art

Award winning Dress :)
Gorgeous singer Dallas Frasca asked me to design and make her a frock for the 2010 MusicOz Awards last Friday. She was nominated and won 2010 Artist of the Year and 2010 Blues and Roots Artist of the Year!! I am so in awe and proud of her, she is a amazing and inspiring woman. I feel honered that i got to make the frock she won the awards in.
The dress was made from a vintage 50's dress I had found and kept the full circle dress becasue of the mass of gorgeous bright blue fabric in it. The dress was tiny and needed to be tranformed. I designed a flattering halter style dress with full skirt for Dallas, added 3 layers of tule tutu skirts in purple and black and hey presto! a superstar!

Byron Bay Designers Part 5

Next on Byron Bay front is the talented Miss Haidee. She has the cutest designs with recycled vintage fabrics for babes, girls and woman. Below are some on the pretty yet funky pieces in her range.

I choose 2 styles from each of her baby, girls and woman's ranges to put up, but there are other styles available on her website, or at local Northern Coast NSW market stall.
